  • Indications:
    - BSN Cutimed Sorbact Hydroactive B Gel Dressing is indicated for contaminated, colonised or infected exuding wounds, such as chronic wounds (venous and arterial ulcers, diabetic ulcers and pressure ulcers), postoperative dehisced wounds and traumatic wounds
  • DACC Technology:
    - Catches or binds bacteria and removes it from the wound bed versus killing it, like silver and other antimicrobial dressings
    - This helps to keep the cell wall intact, allowing for natural healing and long-term prevention of infections, across the wound care continuum
    - DACC is a highly hydrophobic fatty acid derivative, that wound bacteria find very attractive
    - Bacteria become irreversibly bound to the DACC-coated dressing fibers, and to each other, so they are unable to move back to the wound bed
    - Bacteria become inactive, preventing toxin release and replication
    - Releases no chemical agents to fight bacteria and fungi which makes it a uniquely safe and effective wound treatment option for colonized, highly colonized and infected wounds

More Information

  • Contraindications:
    Do not use this dressing on dry wounds or cavity wounds. Do not use on patients with known sensitivity to the dressing components.
  • Warnings and Precautions:
    - This product is packaged for single use. Do not re-use or re-sterilise as there is a risk of cross contamination. Do not use if pouch is opened or damaged. Discard any open dressings. Frequency of dressing change of this product is dependent upon the wound condition and exudate level. This dressing can remain in place for up to 4 days.
    - When in contact with wound exudates, the highly absorbent hydropolymer matrix changes from yellow to brown, indicating the dressing has become saturated. When exudate absorption is observed at 1cm from matrix edge, maximum absorption has been reached and dressing should be changed.
    - This dressing is suitable for use in combination with low pressure compression therapy for contaminated, colonised or infected exuding wounds.
    - It should not be cut to shape wound. Avoid overlapping two or more dressings.
    - Do not use this dressing in combination with ointments or creams as they may interfere with the dressings bacteria-binding efficacy. 
  • Directions for use:
    - Clean the wound as usual.
    - Select an appropriate dressing according to wound size. For best results, make sure the dressing overlaps the wound margins by at least 2 cm.
    - Remove the protective film and apply the green adhesive side of the dressing to the wound.
    - Depending on the wound location it may be appropriate to apply additional dressing fixation.
    - The dressing should be changed as often as dictated by the wound condition. As with all absorbent dressings, monitoring is required to ensure the dressing does not dry out   and adhere to the wound. The dressing should be changed when it becomes cloudy or opaque from fluid absorption.
    In wounds that show signs of clinical infection, a more frequent wound inspection is advised. In these cases, an appropriate systemic treatment should be considered. 
  • Storage:
    - This dressing should be stored in dry conditions below 25 °C / 77 °F.
    - Store the dressing flat.
